Key Responsibilities:

Job Description:

Harbey Nash's Pub Sec client want you to be part of an approach that allows the client to adopt, manage, operate and evolve the design and build of its platform. You will have strong demonstrable experience in communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues. You will contribute to supporting the SCRUM team, Service Owner and Lead Architect in ensuring the client has a fully managed, secure and successful service.

The role involves working collaboratively across other government departments in Scotland and across the UK. You should have deep understanding of agile delivery methods and be comfortable challenging the status quo. You'll have a good understanding of a broad range of technologies with specific skills in the technologies described below.

Specifically, we seek Software Developer in Test with experience of cloud Data Migration projects, ideally AWS to AWS, however experience of assuring data migration to cloud using MySQL orientated databases will suffice. Note that the migration facing items shown within the technology knowledge section are a key pre-requisite to this role.

  • Technology knowledge - good experience of:
    • Best Practice test approaches
    • Test Automation in CI/CD pipelines (specifically, GitHub Actions)
    • Selenium/WebDriver test automation
    • Java and JavaScript
    • BDD test tooling (Gherkin/Cucumber)
    • Proficient around Linux based environments
    • AWS environment experience
    • Mariadb/Oracle/Mysql/AWS Aurora experience (2 or more)
    • 2+ years (within the past 5 years) of MySQL scripting, ideally as part of a cloud Data Migration project
    • Experience of AWS data migration testing, including Athena for S3, AWS Data Migration Service and/or other tooling for testing cloud data migration projects

  • Self-management and proactive risk assessed decision making
    • Capable of making and guiding effective decisions, explaining clearly how the decision has been reached.
    • Able to make decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase.
    • Take ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements

  • Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical
    • Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
    • Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
    • Able to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleagues

    • Understands technical governance and can participate in or deliver the assurance of a service

  • Technology knowledge - good experience of one or more of:
    • Infrastructure testing tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform)
    • Automating OAT (for Web applications and RESTful APIs)
    • Automating Acceptance Testing (for Web applications)
