Summary: The Software Developer role involves re-writing existing in-house applications using TypeScript and React to meet current standards. The contractor will collaborate with the Product Owner to gather requirements, plan the work, and ensure the applications are secure, efficient, and maintainable. The position requires active SC security clearance and adherence to Agile processes throughout the project. This is an on-site position based in Ipswich for a duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and understanding current applications, including technical architecture and known issues.
- Gathering functional and technical requirements from the Product Owner and stakeholders.
- Documenting requirements in JIRA as Features and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Re-writing applications using standard TypeScript/React boilerplate and development guidelines.
- Following internal version-control practices and using the provided development environment.
- Participating in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Providing regular demos to the Product Owner and stakeholders to show progress.
- Updating all relevant documentation as part of the re-write.
- Delivering a JIRA backlog with Features and Stories, updated application code, automated tests, and technical documentation.
- Conducting sprint demos and status updates, and final handover of completed work.
Key Skills:
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Strong understanding of application security and development standards.
- Ability to document requirements and technical specifications in JIRA.
- Experience with version control systems.
- Active SC security clearance.
