Summary: The Software Developer role focuses on updating and rewriting existing in-house applications using TypeScript and React standards. The contractor will collaborate with the Product Owner to gather requirements, plan work, and deliver secure and maintainable applications while adhering to Agile processes. Active SC security clearance is required for eligible candidates. The position is based in Ipswich and is an on-site role for six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and understand current applications, including technical architecture and known issues.
- Work with the Product Owner and stakeholders to gather functional and technical requirements for the rewrite.
- Document requirements in JIRA as Features and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Rewrite applications using standard TypeScript/React boilerplate and development guidelines.
- Follow internal version-control practices and use the provided development environment.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Provide regular demos to the Product Owner and stakeholders to show progress.
- Update all relevant documentation as part of the rewrite.
- Deliver JIRA backlog with Features and Stories, updated application code, appropriate automated tests, updated technical documentation, sprint demos, and status updates.
- Final handover of completed work.
Key Skills:

Overview
This work involves updating and re-writing existing in-house applications to align with our current TypeScript and React standards. The contractor will work closely with the Product Owner to understand requirements, plan the work, and deliver updated applications that are more secure, efficient, and maintainable. All work will follow our existing Agile processes.
Scope
The Contractor Will Be Responsible For
- Reviewing and understanding the current applications, including technical architecture and any known issues.
- Working with the Product Owner and stakeholders to gather functional and technical requirements for the re-write.
- Documenting these requirements in JIRA as Features and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Re-writing the applications using our standard TypeScript/React boilerplate and development guidelines.
- Following internal version-control practices and using the development environment provided.
- Participating in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Providing regular demos to the Product Owner and stakeholders to show progress.
