Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for incoming referrals related to children in need, at risk, or in crisis.
- Complete initial assessments, gather relevant information, and make immediate decisions on appropriate action.
- Apply safeguarding procedures and legal frameworks to protect children and families.
- Work closely with health professionals, police, education staff, and other key agencies to ensure a coordinated response.
- Accurately record all decisions and actions using case management systems.
- Where appropriate, prepare and pass cases on to longer-term teams or escalate for further action.
- Participate in duty rota and contribute to a supportive team environment.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification such as DipSW, CQSW).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Recent frontline experience in children's services, particularly in a duty, MASH, or safeguarding context.
- Strong understanding of child protection legislation, thresholds, and procedures.
- Confidence in making autonomous decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and recording skills.
- Enhanced DBS check (must be current or obtained prior to start).
