Summary: The role of Social Worker in the Children in Care Team at Central Bedfordshire Council involves managing a caseload of children and young people under Interim Care Orders, ensuring their welfare and supporting them towards permanency outcomes, including adoption. The position requires collaboration with key partners and participation in court proceedings as necessary. This hybrid role offers flexibility with a minimum of one office day per month. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in social work, particularly with children in care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support a caseload of children and young people in care.
- Complete court assessments, reports, and statements to a high standard.
- Represent the Local Authority in court proceedings when required.
- Undertake statutory visits and ensure the welfare and rights of children are protected.
- Work closely with Adoption Connects when adoption is the agreed permanency plan.
Key Skills:
- Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
- Significant post-qualification experience in supporting Children in Care.
- Solid court work experience.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to travel to visit children, some of whom may be placed outside of Central Bedfordshire.
