About Us

We’re Curveball Games, a fresh, remote-first video game publisher founded in 2025. Our mission is simple: provide developers with the kind of publishing support we wished existed when we were on the other side of the table. To us, that means honesty, flexibility, transparency, and creating a genuine sense of collaboration from day one. We don’t just publish games; we’re aiming to build lasting partnerships. We work closely with indie developers from all backgrounds to help bring their creative visions to life, whether that’s getting their game onto physical shelves or helping them shine in the ever-evolving digital ecosystem.

The Lowdown

With our foundations now firmly in place, we’ve taken a step back to reflect on our first several months, what’s working, what could work better, and where we can make the most meaningful impact for our team and partners. The result? We’re stoked to be hiring a Social & Community Manager to sit right at the heart of our team! Player habits evolve fast, and discoverability is more fragmented than ever. We need someone who knows where players actually hang out and how to engage them creatively, authentically, and consistently. You’re someone who lives and breathes social trends, understands what makes communities tick, and knows how to turn casual scrollers as well as influencers/content creators into long-term fans. However, it’s not all going to be about the odd post here, the occasional DM there, we’re also looking for someone that’s able to generate the content they’ll require to help our chosen channels thrive, whether that’s a 30 second video on TikTok, or a meme worthy image for X (which for the record, is still called Twitter no matter what He says) This role blends strategy, creativity and hands-on execution, and offers big opportunities to help shape not only our titles, but Curveball Games as a whole.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and own end-to-end social strategies for a range of indie titles as well as the Curveball Games brand, refining them regularly using insights and data.
  • Lead and execute multi-channel social campaigns across platforms like Twitter (X), TikTok, Instagram, and beyond, always keeping an eye on emerging spaces.
  • Create and manage content calendars that balance brand building, community engagement, milestones, and key marketing beats.
  • Ideate and produce a variety of content: static assets, short-form video, social-first creatives, and reactive content tailored to our games and audiences.
  • Identify, contact, and maintain relations with a diverse range of content creators across the globe for organic content placements.
  • Monitor social and community performance, delivering clear reports on KPIs, trends, and player insights to partners and stakeholders.
  • Define and craft tone of voice guidelines for both individual products and Curveball Games as a brand.
  • Build and execute community strategies focused on establishing, nurturing, and growing passionate player communities.
  • Identify where our players “live” (Reddit, Steam, Social Platforms, etc.) and become a proactive voice for our products and teams in those spaces, creating conversation and buzz about our shiny new things!
  • Create and manage community platforms (such as Discord) to drive engagement, retention, and long-term advocacy.
  • Work closely with our Product Marketing Manager and PR Manager to shape both tactical (social-first) and strategic (GTM) campaigns.

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine passion for games of all genres, community building, and championing player voices.
  • 4+ years' experience in social media management, community management, and/or social-first strategy within gaming or entertainment - ideally with a publishing background.
  • A proven track record of growing social channels from early stages to meaningful engagement and scale.
  • Experience launching and nurturing communities from scratch, with a clear understanding of what helps them thrive.
  • Confident content-creation skills across writing, graphics, and short-form video.
  • Deep knowledge of where players spend their time and how best to connect with them on each platform.
  • Demonstrated experience in influencer relations within the video games industry or a similar field.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English, with an ability to craft tone, humour and messaging that resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Strong analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies and ROI-driven KPIs plus have the confidence to translate and present findings to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of their vertical (and lending a hand across the wider marketing mix as needed).
  • Expert knowledge of social platforms, trends, and community tools plus familiarity with management platforms like Sprout.
  • Solid ability with content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite.

Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves, Not Must-Haves)

  • Experience building and managing paid social campaigns.
  • Background in influencer partnerships and/or content creation.

The Interview Process

At Curveball, we’re trying to keep things as holistic and straightforward for candidates as possible. For the Social & Community Manager role, we have a 3-stage interview process, which includes a task.

Application: Once we’ve reviewed your application, you’ll get an email from us to let you know if you’ve made it to our 1 st Stage interview. Please note that, due to the sheer volumes, we won’t be able to provide feedback on applications.

1st Stage: Will be a one-hour panel interview with Curveball’s Head of Marketing, Product Marketing Manager and PR Manager. This is all about getting to know you, your experience, our expectations of the role, alongside demonstrating your technical knowledge, mixed with a few core competency questions. But let’s not forget, this is also your opportunity to interview us , so it’ll also be your chance to fire at us just about any question you want to throw at us.

Task: This will be completed between the 1 st and 2 nd interview stages, with the intention that it should take no more than 30 minutes.

2 nd Stage: One hour with our Head of Publishing . You’ve met most of Curveball Games by this point, so let’s complete the set. Whilst a further opportunity to get to know Curveball Games, and our overall aims, this is an opportunity for you to drill a bit deeper as well as conduct a mutual vibe check.

3 rd Stage: 15 minutes with the senior team. At Curveball, we like to round things off with a final meeting with our senior stakeholders. This is an opportunity for you to meet the senior management team to answer any wider business questions you may have.

Next Steps: Within a few days, we’re hoping to have job offers and feedback out to candidates. This may take us a little while, but please bear with us. Feel free to drop us a nudge if you think it’s been unreasonably long!

The Boring (But Important) Stuff

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role. We’ll review options together every six months. We’re unable to provide visa sponsorship, so candidates must already be based in the UK and have the right to work here. (Plus, popping into Cardiff once a month is a lot easier that way!) Given our line of work in the creative space, we’re huge supporters of the creative process. Just like the games we work on, Gen AI submissions will not be accepted in any form. We want to hear from YOU, not a supercomputer in Nevada.
