Summary: The Skilled General Machinist role at AMS involves working in a cutting-edge manufacturing facility, producing high-quality aerospace components on a rotating shift pattern. Candidates are expected to engage in health and safety activities, meet performance targets, and maintain quality standards while working as part of a team. The position requires a recognized engineering qualification and experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with metals like Nickel, Steel, and Titanium Alloys. This is a contract position for 12 months, operating under a PAYE model due to IR35 legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in Health and Safety activities.
- Produce components at the highest quality.
- Deliver cell performance targets.
- Conduct machine PPM and manage calibration.
- Deliver improvement initiatives and adopt development roles.
- Critique own work through visual and dimensional inspections.
- Load and unload various process equipment.
- Provide feedback to Manufacturing Engineer and team.
- Maintain excellent quality standards and work within strict HS&E guidelines.
- Collaborate with the team to meet customer needs in a high-volume, target-driven environment.
Key Skills:
- Completed a recognized time-served apprenticeship (City and Guilds, NVQ3/SVQ3 or equivalent).
- Ability to work a multi-shift pattern including nights.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in an operator role.
- Familiarity with Nickel, Steel, and Titanium Alloys.
- Up-to-date knowledge of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings.
- Basic IT knowledge.
