Summary: The Site QA/QC Manager will oversee quality assurance and control for an EfW plant project in Cheshire, ensuring compliance with quality standards and contract requirements. This role involves developing quality programs, monitoring inspections, and managing documentation related to quality metrics. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, along with extensive experience in QA/QC for major industrial projects. The role is expected to last for six months with a possibility of extension, starting in mid-July.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Functionally report to the Head of QA/QC and the Project Quality Manager.
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of the Project’s Quality Standards.
  • Monitor and support Quality Control activities of Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical works.
  • Review specifications in terms of Project’s Quality requirements.
  • Implement the Project Quality Plan at site using specifications, erection procedures, and inspection and test plans (ITPs).
  • Monitor inspection activities of subcontractors as specified within the ITPs and Project Quality Plan.
  • Verify inspections are performed by qualified staff with calibrated equipment.
  • Perform inspections as required according to ITPs and client’s requirements.
  • Manage and review relevant test reports or documentation produced by subcontractors during inspections.
  • Inspect material/equipment upon receipt and monitor handling/storage & preservation.
  • Monitor and analyze quality metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate and participate in all statutory inspections by 3rd party agencies.
  • Inform the Site Manager and Construction Supervisor of any non-conformity observed.
  • Monitor the progress of corrective actions and confirm actions taken to close NCRs.
  • Participate in final walk downs with the Customer, Subcontractor(s), and Construction Engineers.
  • Liaise with the SM and Construction team to ensure compliance of Sub-contractors.
  • Conduct training courses for site personnel related to quality issues.
  • Support the Site QA/QC team on the preparation of Erection ITPs and relevant documentation.
  • Prepare/issue final documentation of the project.
  • Issue Quality daily/weekly/monthly reports according to Project requirements.
  • Participate in site quality meetings (internal or with subcontractors or clients).
  • Participate or perform internal or external audits.
  • Create a Project Quality culture among team members.
  • Liaise with Client for site quality issues/topics.

Role - Site QA/QC Manager
Project – EfW plant
Location - Cheshire
Start Date – Mid July
Duration - 6 Months with possible extension
Rates – Circa £550 Daily Rate outside IR35
Hours: 07.00 to 17.00. Monday to Friday with occasional weekends.
Scope of the role: The Site QA/QC Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance of products and services. The responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive quality assurance and quality control programs, policies, and procedures according to the clients quality management system and the contract requirements.
Key responsibilities, accountabilities and decision ownership:
Functionally reports to the Head of QA/QC and the Project Quality manager
Ensures understanding and implements the Project’s Quality Standards
Monitors and supports Quality Control activities of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical works
Reviews the specifications in terms of Project’s Quality requirements
Responsibility of the implementation of the Project Quality Plan at site using tools such as project’s specifications, erection procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs)
Responsible for implementation/monitoring of inspection activities of the subcontractors as specified within the ITPs and Project Quality Plan.
Verifies that inspections are performed to the extent defined within the ITPs, by qualified staff, with calibrated equipment, as required.
Performs inspections were required according to ITPs and client’s requirements.
Responsible for the management and review of the relevant test reports or other documentation produced by the subcontractors during the inspections.
Inspection of material/equipment upon receipt, monitor handling/storage & preservation of materials/equipment prior/during/after installation acc. to manufacturer recommendations.
Monitor and analyse quality metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement in product and process quality.
Coordination and Participation of all statutory inspections by 3rd party agencies
Informs the Site Manager and the Construction Supervisor for any non-conformity observed.
Monitors the progress of corrective actions and confirms the actions taken to close the NCRs.
Performs / participates to the final walk downs with the Customer, Subcontractor(s), Construction Engineers etc. and verifies the recording of observations (punch items) in the relevant list.
Liaises with the SM and Construction team for ensuring the compliance of Sub-contractors with their contractual requirements

At least 10 years solid experience in the field of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical QA/QC of Major Industrial Projects i.e. Power Plants and Oil & Gas
In-depth knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles, practices, and methodologies.
Solid experience on ISO 9001 QMS
Familiar with Construction Codes, UK Regulations and Standards related to Oil & Gas, Power Plants Industrial Projects, Grid infrastructure.
