Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities within your allocated section.
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, RAMS, ITPs and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with Site Engineers, Section Engineers, Project Managers and the wider delivery team.
  • Plan and coordinate daily site activities and resources.
  • Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays or constraints.
  • Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks and coordination meetings where required.
  • Ensure adequate labour, plant, materials and equipment are available to deliver the works.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure works meet required quality standards.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
  • Ensure RAMS are briefed and adhered to by all personnel.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and ensure any issues are identified and addressed promptly.
  • Liaise with the engineering team regarding setting out, technical queries and design changes.
  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and daily diaries.
  • Manage permits, inspections and relevant site documentation.
  • Identify risks, issues and opportunities and escalate where appropriate.
  • Support the project management team in achieving programme, cost, quality and safety targets.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid EKFB induction
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Previous HS2/EKFB/Tier 1 contractor experience highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, site management and delivery.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams.
  • Good knowledge of RAMS, ITPs, permits and construction documentation.
  • Strong health and safety knowledge and awareness.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and priorities in a fast-paced site environment.
  • Relevant construction qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Valid CSCS/SMSTS certification as applicable to the role.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working directly on HS2/EKFB projects.
  • Experience in major earthworks, structures, highways, drainage, utilities or other infrastructure packages.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator experience.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Environmental and quality management experience.
  • Experience working on large-scale linear infrastructure projects.
