Summary: The Site Manager will oversee the construction of a 200+ bed student accommodation development in Birmingham City Centre, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role involves managing site operations, enforcing health and safety regulations, and maintaining communication with project stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for quality assurance and managing subcontractors effectively. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to a high-profile project in a prime location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of construction, ensuring work is completed to programme, quality, and safety standards
  • Enforce health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and ensuring all RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) are adhered to
  • Monitor project progress against the construction programme, identifying and mitigating any potential delays
  • Manage subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring efficient scheduling of works
  • Ensure the highest standards of workmanship are achieved, conducting regular quality checks
  • Maintain strong communication with project managers, design teams, and client representatives
  • Provide regular progress reports, manage site records, and attend project meetings
  • Oversee material deliveries, site access, and coordination with the local authority where necessary

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on large-scale residential, student accommodation, or high-rise projects
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building regulations, and health & safety legislation
  • Experience managing RC Frame and traditional build projects
  • Ability to coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors efficiently
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) - Black/Gold Card
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
