Summary: The Site Engineering Manager will lead and enhance reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement projects within a leading packaging manufacturing site. This role involves managing an engineering department of approximately 22 personnel and overseeing engineering, manufacturing machinery, and plant infrastructure. The position requires a strong focus on budget control and compliance with health and safety regulations while mentoring the engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a background in automated batch manufacturing and a proven track record in managing high-value CAPEX projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement projects across the site.
  • Manage an engineering department of around 22 people.
  • Oversee engineering, manufacturing machinery, facilities, site services, energy, and plant infrastructure.
  • Control budget (P&L) and manage CAPEX projects valued at £4m.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental, and Insurance Legislations.
  • Act as a mentor and leader to the wider engineering team, providing training and development plans.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Support negotiations and management of service agreements and contracts.
  • Drive site-wide energy initiatives and support sustainability plans.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in automated batch manufacturing/FMCG.
  • Effective coaching, leadership, and communication skills with solid team management experience.
  • Stable career history.
  • Solid budget control (P&L) and resource management experience.
  • Degree or HND in Engineering is ideal.
  • NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications are beneficial.
  • Continuous improvement mentality: Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen.
  • Experience in a similar level departmental engineering manager role.
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety and Engineering Compliance Standards.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-value CAPEX projects.

Our client is a leading packaging manufacturer, part of a multi:billion:pound global group, with a reputation for product quality which is second to none and industry leading standards. Due to a recent restructure / promotion within the group they are looking for a new site engineering manager.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement projects across site
  • Managing an engineering department of around 22 people
  • Responsible for engineering, manufacturing machinery, facilities, site services, energy and plant infrastructure
  • Budget control (P and L) and CAPEX Projects : GBP4m
