Role Overview: My client is a Leading National Civil Engineering ContractorThey specialise in the following sectors;They are about to break ground on a new Civil Engineering project in the Swindon area and are seeking to engage a Site Engineer with a strong background in Highways, Earthworks and Drainage, ideally.The project forms part of a major new development and comprises the construction of a new highway off of an existing roundabout with significant earthworks, drainage, kerbing and other associated works such as the construction of balancing ponds and hard and soft landscaping woks.The estimated duration of the project is 18+ months commencing from the start of April 2025. With an estimated day rate of £325- £375.Currently my client is open to considering those seeking contract or permanent positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out using total stations, GPS equipment, and to be able to undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs
  • Read and review construction drawings
  • Undertake basic take-off's
  • Raising technical queries with designers and other members of the client team
  • Have a good commercial understanding and know the difference between cost and value
  • Have a good commercial understanding and know the difference between cost and value
  • Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures

Skills Required

The company are seeking a proactive problem solver and confident communicator, who has the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals.The ideal candidate will have previous civil engineering experience, particularly highways schemes working for a main contractor.Must also have a CSCS card in the appropriate discipline and have a BSc/ HND/ HNC qualification or equivalent.You will have a SSTS card as well as ICE membership.

Skills Required

Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is essential and the successful candidate will be happy to travel throughout the Southern Region.A First Aid at Work qualification would also be desirable.
