Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting material checks and inspections
  • Supporting subcontractor coordination on site
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely and to specification
  • Assisting with as-built surveys and progress reporting
  • Working closely with Section Engineers and site management teams

Key Skills:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Experience with setting out and QA processes

The Opportunity We’re currently looking for a Freelance Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure project near Bridgwater, supporting a large reinforced concrete structures package on a long-term programme of works running through to 2029. This is an excellent opportunity to secure consistent work on a flagship heavy civils scheme, working within a high-performing delivery team across technically challenging reinforced concrete and infrastructure works.

The Project This section of the project is focused around major reinforced concrete and associated civils activities, including:

  • Large in-situ reinforced concrete structures
  • Retaining walls and structural bases
  • Formwork, rebar and concrete pours
  • Drainage and infrastructure installations
  • Heavy foundations and structural packages
  • Associated earthworks and temporary works operations

The scale of the works provides a fast-paced and technically engaging environment with genuine long-term continuity.

The Role As Site Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day delivery of works across your assigned area, ensuring quality, accuracy and programme targets are maintained throughout the construction phase. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting out for reinforced concrete and civils works
  • Carrying out QA checks and completing quality documentation
  • Maintaining accurate site diaries and records
  • Conducting material checks and inspections
  • Supporting subcontractor coordination on site
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely and to specification

All required equipment and surveying tools will be provided.

About You We’re keen to speak with engineers who have experience delivering heavy civils or reinforced concrete projects in a site engineering capacity. Relevant project experience may include:

  • Major infrastructure schemes
  • Reinforced concrete structures
  • Bridges or structural civils packages
  • Water or wastewater projects
  • Highways and earthworks schemes
  • Large-scale construction environments

You’ll also have:

  • BASED WITHIN ONE HOUR OF THE BRIDGWATER AREA
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Experience with setting out and QA processes
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The right to work in the UK
