Summary: We are seeking a hands-on civil engineer for a large-scale renewable energy project, requiring expertise in managing civil and earthworks in a fast-paced construction environment. The role involves interpreting design drawings, ensuring compliance with standards, and troubleshooting technical issues on-site. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in energy generation or similar construction environments and will be responsible for maintaining quality and safety throughout the project. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret design drawings and translate them into practical guidance for the site team, identifying and resolving any issues.
- Monitor contractor quality to ensure earthworks and civil works are executed to design standards.
- Manage inspection and test plans (ITPs) to ensure compliance beyond just paperwork.
- Raise, manage, and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs), ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on site to prevent delays or additional costs.
- Track progress of earthworks and civil activities alongside the Construction Manager.
- Assist in developing practical construction specifications.
- Maintain accurate snagging lists and ensure completion to standard.
- Support CDM documentation and handover package preparation.
- Represent the company in site meetings, providing informed input and guidance.
Key Skills:
- 5–10 years’ experience in energy generation, renewables, or similar construction-focused environments.
- Experience working for a Main or Principal Contractor.
- Degree or HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
- Experience with Energy Project construction is advantageous.
- CSCS card or relevant site safety qualifications.
- Familiarity with SharePoint.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they arise.
- Clear communicator, capable of explaining technical matters in a practical, understandable way.
- Able to build effective working relationships across site and office teams.
- Solid understanding of civil and earthworks interfaces on active construction sites.
