Summary: The Shift Station Supervisor at London Bridge Station is responsible for leading the station team to ensure exceptional customer service and safety standards. This hands-on leadership role involves managing operations on a shift basis and creating a secure environment for passengers. The position is part of a dynamic team within the Southern Region, contributing to the efficiency of vital railway services. This role offers a full-time, 12-month secondment opportunity with various benefits and a focus on inclusion and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the station team, including agency staff, to maintain safety and deliver excellent customer service.
- Direct and monitor station activities in line with safety procedures, ensuring checks are recorded and non-compliances addressed.
- Work with all station users to create a safe and secure environment, preventing accidents and investigating incidents.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents in line with agreed procedures, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide customer service and support Shift Station Managers in raising service standards through monitoring and feedback.
- Conduct shift briefings, allocate responsibilities, check equipment use, and arrange short-notice cover when needed.
- Liaise with British Transport Police and other authorities to prevent and address criminal activity.
- Carry out regular station checks, proactively addressing hazards and logging occurrences.
- Implement emergency plans and ensure the team follows procedures diligently.
Key Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging situations assertively.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Good education, including GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Experience managing confrontational situations and working under pressure.
- Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Ability to achieve Station Incident Officer Training once appointed.
- Previous experience supervising a team (desirable).
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (desirable).
- Ability to speak an additional language (desirable).
