Summary: The Services Accountant role involves providing financial advice and support to the Housing, Leisure, and Community Support Services within a Local Authority in Surrey. The position is temporary for an initial period of three months and requires oversight of budget performance and preparation of financial reports. The postholder will also contribute to the development of the Council's financial strategy and support budget managers with monitoring reports. The role requires a qualified accountant with experience in local authority finance and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee budget performance and prepare final accounts for Housing, Leisure, and Community Support Services.
• Support the development of the Council’s rolling medium-term financial strategy.
• Prepare monthly revenue budget monitoring reports for budget managers.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue and capital monitoring reports for corporate monitoring arrangements.

Key Skills:

• Qualified CCAB/CIMA Accountant or Part-Qualified Accountant with extensive experience.
• Experience in accounting and budgeting processes in a Local Authority finance environment.
• Desirable experience in housing, leisure, or community services finance.
• Ability to provide financial advice to senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
