Summary: The Epic Application Analyst role involves supporting the assessment, design, development, and implementation of Epic clinical information systems. The position requires translating complex clinical and operational information into clear system requirements while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective solution design and value realization. The analyst will also be responsible for documenting requirements, facilitating meetings, and leading process improvement initiatives. A clinical background and Epic certification are preferred for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, elicit, and document business, clinical, functional, and technical requirements; translate them into clear specifications using data models, process flows, diagrams, and narratives
  • Interview end users, stakeholders, and sponsors to assess needs and align requirements with organizational objectives and standards
  • Decompose requirements into detailed components including data sources, data types, users, interfaces, navigation, reporting, and administrative needs
  • Define external interfaces, constraints, quality attributes, risks, ambiguities, and non-functional requirements; partner with project teams to develop solutions
  • Collaborate with project managers to deliver requirements and related documentation in alignment with project timelines and change control processes
  • Plan, organize, facilitate, and lead meetings, workgroups, and user forums; manage follow-ups, documentation, and communications
  • Coordinate with system analysts, developers, and QA teams to ensure designs, mockups, prototypes, and solutions meet defined requirements and quality standards
  • Develop and maintain documentation including test plans, technical documentation, release notes, user guides, training materials, and presentations
  • Plan, coordinate, and support unit acceptance testing, deployments, and post-implementation support; troubleshoot and resolve application issues
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences using visual aids and business-focused storytelling
  • Identify, analyze, and lead process improvement initiatives; research industry practices and present findings and recommendations
  • Provide mentoring, training, supervision, and performance oversight for junior analysts and assigned team members; support hiring and onboarding activities
  • Work collaboratively within cross-functional and PMO-driven environments while managing multiple priorities, timelines, and resource constraints
  • Maintain ongoing communication with users, leadership, and vendors to support current initiatives and special projects as assigned

Key Skills:

  • Specialty certification(s) issued by a national commercially available program, state, professional society, academic or technical institution in an area(s) listed above, may be credited on a month-to-month basis toward the required work experience for a total of one year
  • Epic Certification
  • Clinical Background (preferred)
  • At least 2 full life-cycle implementations (preferred)
  • A Master's Degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience serving as a lead in soliciting, defining, and managing requirements for internally and externally developed software in a clinical, allied health, non-allied health, behavioral health, information technology, information services, business, analytics or related area; or, one year of experience in a relevant clinical and/or healthcare administration role/function; or
  • A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience as described above; or
  • A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 2-5 years' experience with Epic EMR and/or other clinical applications.
