Summary: The Service Design Lead will spearhead service reviews within Procurement & Commissioning and Analytics, Insight & Performance services, focusing on organisational and service area redesigns. This role involves developing business cases, overseeing service redesigns, and implementing recommendations to enhance service delivery. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to analyze data and improve efficiencies within local authority services. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for managing complex projects and securing stakeholder buy-in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in developing Service Design Business Cases for assigned services.
  • Oversee the redesign of allocated services, including the review of processes, systems, and resources, while managing transition activities.
  • Apply and refine effective methodologies for service redesign.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform redesign proposals, using techniques such as interviews, document reviews, workshops, and business process mapping.
  • Examine datasets, conduct process mapping, analyze data, and perform capacity and demand assessments.
  • Collaborate with service teams and stakeholders to document current operations and identify future service delivery practices.
  • Support and drive improvements and efficiencies within service areas to guide planning.
  • Conduct cost analyses of specific council services.
  • Understand and interpret council business requirements, translating them into effective service delivery models.

  • Developing and applying tailored service design approaches, including capacity and demand analysis.
  • Co-designing and facilitating workshops, effectively managing stakeholder relationships at all levels, and clearly communicating complex design concepts.

  • Documenting current ("as-is") processes and translating them into actionable service improvements.

  • Collaborating effectively within teams, while remaining resilient under pressure and meeting tight project deadlines.
  • Delivering successful projects through a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
  • Managing large-scale, complex projects within the public sector, particularly in local government.
