Summary: The role of SEO Policy Advisor for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) involves providing strategic policy advice related to Afghan Resettlement and ensuring alignment across various government departments. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in creating plans for Afghan Resettlement, considering policy, legal, and presentational aspects.
• Provide inputs on policy, legal, and planning issues to ensure MOD needs are met and coordinated across Whitehall.
• Analyze complex inputs and prepare clear advice for ministerial, legal, and senior briefings.
• Build strong relationships with FCDO, Home Office, and MHCLG to align policies.
• Engage with planning team and senior leadership to ensure awareness and input in decision-making.
• Ensure good information management practices and track key deadlines to protect MOD equities.

Key Skills:

• Previous experience of working in a policy role within central Government (MOD/HO/FCDO nice to have) in particular developing policy solutions to novel, sensitive issues.
• Previous experience of writing policy papers/submissions – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form.
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to deliver good quality work at pace.
• Line manager experience.
