Summary: The Senior Wireless Network Engineer role involves working with a leading global ICT services provider, focusing on complex Wi-Fi solutions for large enterprises and public sector markets. The position requires expertise in Wi-Fi design, configuration, and troubleshooting within high-density environments. This contract role offers the potential for extension and a permanent position, emphasizing hands-on experience with various networking equipment. The engineer will be part of a technical delivery team responsible for ensuring optimal Wi-Fi performance and coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the design and configuration elements of the Wi-Fi solution, including access point model and placement, controller, resilience and licensing requirements, according to industry or vendor best practice.
- Configuration and installation of Cisco products.
- Verify that best practices are followed for all Extreme Wi-Fi device configuration.
- Oversee execution of a complete Wi-Fi signal coverage plan in accordance with the defined acceptance criteria.
- Work on all aspects of the Wi-Fi solution including venue design, Access Point/Controller testing and configuration, documentation, operational support, device certification, technical evaluation, RF surveys, optimisation and tuning, and event day testing.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems related to the Wi-Fi solution and legacy Wi-Fi solution.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field or work experience equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi and network vendor's equipment such as Extreme Networks, Cisco, Juniper, Cisco Meraki, Aruba, etc.
- Extensive experience within wireless network engineering, data communications fields, Wireless/Mobility/Cellular networks, and Networking/Internetworking devices, protocols, and operating systems.
- Demonstrate expertise in network design and ability to lead Wi-Fi and network design-related discussions.
- Experience in developing RF designs, RF propagation modelling, and site surveys using tools such as Ekahau & AirMagnet (preferred but not essential).
- CWNA (Certified Wireless Networking Administrator) or +5 years of experience in RF engineering (preferred but not essential).
