Summary: The role of Senior Test Engineer/Test Engineer involves developing automated test scripts and contributing to test planning within a long-term program for a blue-chip client. The position requires collaboration with developers to resolve issues and improve test reliability, while also leading testing activities across multiple teams. Candidates must have hands-on experience with various testing frameworks and tools, particularly in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment. This is a hybrid position based in Leeds, UK, with a contract duration of six months plus potential extensions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop automated test scripts using tools like Selenium (Java and Maven), Cypress, Playwright, or similar frameworks.
  • Contribute to test planning by identifying test cases that should be automated and determining the best testing approaches.
  • Run automated tests, analyze results, and report defects with clear documentation for developers.
  • Investigate failures, collaborate with developers to resolve issues, and improve test reliability.
  • Experience of working in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, leading testing activities and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain UI & API test frameworks.
  • Selenium Automation Testing (Java and Maven) and NFT (K6/JMeter).
  • Perform API testing (Manual via Postman/Insomnia & Automated via Java Rest Assured).
  • Utilize JavaScript-based automation tools (Cypress/Playwright).
  • Contribute to Docker & CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Lead the traceability of testing, risks, defects, and report progress to appropriate stakeholders across several teams.
  • Lead Test Engineers across several teams, providing technical leadership and guidance.

Key Skills:

  • Hands-on experience in Selenium Automation Testing (Java and Maven).
  • API Testing (Manual - using Postman/Insomnia/Automation - using Java Rest Assured).
  • Knowledge on JavaScript framework (Cypress/Playwright).
  • Knowledge on Docker/CI-CD.
  • Experience in different testing frameworks - BDD, TDD, Cucumber, TestNG/JUnit open source framework.
  • Understanding of framework integration with Jenkins/Gitlab (continuous integration).
  • Knowledge on JMeter.
  • Experience of working in agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of Accessibility Testing (WCAG - axe/wave/arc).
  • Hands-on with BDD/TDD frameworks (Cucumber, TestNG, module-based).
  • Expertise in Selenium integration with Jenkins/GitLab.
  • Experience in Agile methodology & Accessibility Testing (WCAG - axe/wave/arc).
