Senior Test Engineer (SC Cleared or SC Eligible) - 6 months - Inside IR35 - Hybrid

Summary: The Senior Test Engineer role involves working on a secure government project for a 6-month contract, requiring SC clearance or eligibility. The position is hybrid, with 1-2 days on-site in Leeds, and focuses on developing automated test frameworks and supporting non-functional testing. Candidates must have strong experience in automation and testing methodologies, contributing to a dynamic delivery team. This role is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable, reusable UI and API test frameworks.
• Build and execute Selenium automation tests using Java and Maven.
• Perform API testing manually using Postman or Insomnia, and automate using Java with Rest Assured.
• Utilise JavaScript-based automation tools such as Cypress or Playwright for web testing.
• Contribute to performance and non-functional testing using K6 and JMeter.
• Support integration of test suites into Docker-based environments and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with BDD/TDD frameworks such as Cucumber, TestNG, and modular-based test design.
• Proven expertise in Selenium automation, with seamless integration into CI pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab.
• In-depth understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, with experience contributing to cross-functional sprint teams.
• Practical knowledge of accessibility testing aligned to WCAG standards using tools such as axe, WAVE, or ARC.
• Demonstrated ability to lead testing activities across multiple teams, ensuring clear traceability of test coverage, risk, and defect management.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to Test Engineers, ensuring best practices are maintained across automation and QA disciplines.
