Summary: We're seeking a Senior Technical Architect to spearhead the discovery and prototyping of a new electronic health/medical record system aimed at integrating provider and payer operations. This pivotal role is part of a significant healthcare transformation initiative. The position requires extensive experience in healthcare IT strategy and architecture. The role is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead workshops to map current tech architecture and data flows
  • Design future-state architecture, including systems, data models, governance, and integration
  • Evaluate EMR/EHR options: commercial, open-source, and custom builds
  • Benchmark against NHS and global implementations
  • Create reference architectures for integrating multiple systems
  • Define integration needs (APIs, message queues, ETL, middleware)
  • Contribute hands-on to prototypes if required

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years in healthcare IT strategy with at least one full EHR/EMR implementation
  • Strong knowledge of HL7, FHIR, and OpenEHR standards
  • Hands-on experience with at least two EHR/EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Google Health API, etc.)
  • Familiarity with both provider (clinical) and payer (claims/underwriting) systems
  • Solid understanding of data governance, patient identity management, and security (GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Confident leading workshops and engaging stakeholders across tech, clinical, and compliance
  • Backend development skills in REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems
