We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Test Analyst to join a financial services organisation on an initial six-month contract.
The role will involve working across complex financial applications, ensuring that business processes function correctly and that information is accurately processed, transferred and maintained across multiple systems.
We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong SQL and database testing capabilities with a solid understanding of financial services, ideally gained within banking, investment management, asset management or capital markets environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of testing activities across financial applications, from interpreting requirements through to execution and defect resolution.
- Use SQL to investigate underlying data, verify financial calculations and identify inconsistencies between systems.
- Assess data quality and integrity across databases, interfaces and reporting environments.
- Carry out functional, integration and regression testing to ensure systems operate reliably across business processes.
- Examine data movements and transformations, investigating discrepancies and working with technical teams to resolve issues.
- Produce test documentation, record defects and communicate testing progress to project stakeholders.
- Work alongside developers, business analysts and end users to support testing activities and successful releases.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering functional and database testing within financial services environments.
- Strong hands-on SQL skills, with the ability to independently investigate complex data issues.
- Experience testing relational databases, ideally Oracle or SQL Server.
- A solid understanding of data reconciliation, validation and testing across interconnected systems.
- Knowledge of financial products, transactions or processes within banking, investments, asset management, trading, risk or compliance.
- Experience working within structured testing lifecycles, including Agile delivery environments.
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
Advantageous Experience
- Testing ETL processes, data warehouses or large-scale data migrations.
- Experience validating stored procedures and complex data transformations.
- API testing or exposure to test automation frameworks.
