The Opportunity

A leading global financial services organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join a major technology transformation programme.

This isn't an Enterprise Architect or CTO-level strategy role. They're looking for a hands-on Solution Architect who enjoys getting into the detail-producing high and low-level designs, solving complex integration challenges and working closely alongside engineering teams to guide delivery.

Your first project will centre around a large-scale integration programme, designing modern messaging and API-based solutions across both cloud and on-premise environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own end-to-end solution architecture across a major integration programme
• Produce high and low-level technical designs
• Design messaging, API and microservice-based solutions
• Work closely with software engineers throughout implementation
• Define architecture patterns and technical standards
• Review solution designs and provide technical leadership during delivery
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Drive best practice around performance, security, scalability and maintainability
• Collaborate with infrastructure, development and business stakeholders across multiple workstreams

What They're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is still technically hands-on rather than operating purely at an enterprise or governance level.

You'll ideally have experience with:

• Significant experience as a Solution Architect on complex enterprise systems
• Strong experience designing integration-heavy solutions
• Messaging and event-driven architectures
• Microservices architecture
• API design and integration patterns
• Message queue technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar
• Experience delivering solutions across both on-premise and Azure environments
• Microsoft technology stack including C#/.NET
• Domain Driven Design (DDD)
• Containerisation and orchestration
• SQL Server and large-scale data environments
• Producing high and low-level design documentation
• Working directly with engineering teams throughout delivery

Nice to Have

• Financial Services experience
• Insurance or Reinsurance experience
• Azure Solution Architect certification
• TOGAF or similar architecture frameworks
• Experience with cloud migration programmes
• Power BI or SSRS exposure
• NoSQL databases

The Ideal Profile

This role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the technology.

You'll likely be a Senior Solution Architect, Technical Architect or Application Architect who still enjoys solving technical problems alongside engineering teams.

This is not suited to Enterprise Architects, CTOs or architecture managers who are operating primarily at strategic or governance level.
