Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on complex matters to Council Officers and members.
  • Conduct land-related transactions efficiently to meet budgetary targets.
  • Draft necessary legal documents and carry out a wide range of legal work.
  • Prepare reports and attend meetings to provide legal and procedural advice.
  • Exercise judgment on the need for specialist legal advice and instruct Counsel as necessary.
  • Participate in corporate and interdepartmental projects as required.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience in major property work with limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and present legal risks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Competent ICT skills, including familiarity with case management systems.
  • Ability to represent the Council at meetings and provide sound legal advice.
  • In-depth knowledge of English Law, Property and Conveyancing Law, and Land Law.
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate or rights of audience.
  • A minimum of 6+ years' PQE is essential.
