Summary: The Senior Solicitor - Property role at Luton Borough Council involves providing comprehensive legal services, particularly in property matters, to the Council and its various committees. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on complex matters to Council Officers and members.
- Conduct land-related transactions efficiently to meet budgetary targets.
- Draft necessary legal documents and carry out a wide range of legal work.
- Prepare reports and attend meetings to provide legal and procedural advice.
- Exercise judgment on the need for specialist legal advice and instruct Counsel as necessary.
- Participate in corporate and interdepartmental projects as required.
Key Skills:
- Significant experience in major property work with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and present legal risks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Competent ICT skills, including familiarity with case management systems.
- Ability to represent the Council at meetings and provide sound legal advice.
- In-depth knowledge of English Law, Property and Conveyancing Law, and Land Law.
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate or rights of audience.
- A minimum of 6+ years' PQE is essential.
