Summary: The role of Senior Software Engineer focuses on developing software components with a strong emphasis on Python, Docker, and Cyber Security within the Defence & Security sector. This position requires a hybrid working model, with approximately 20% onsite presence in either Bristol or Southampton. Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of specific software work packages, including low-level planning, delivery, and reporting.
- Possess a strong understanding of microservice software architecture.
- Design, implement, document, and test software modules and components.
- Peer review code, application design, and test results to ensure compliance with standards and governance.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical guidance to engineers.
- Mentor and support junior developers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and stakeholder reporting.
- Build production-grade software components with integration into wider systems in mind.
- Suggest and drive improvements in development processes, tools, and practices.
- Clearly communicate updates, risks, and review points upwards.
Key Skills:

- Knowledge of secure coding practices and cyber security considerations.
