Summary: The Senior Software Engineer role involves working for a leading global IT services supplier, primarily focusing on modern Front End frameworks like React, with a strong emphasis on Node.js and Typescript for integrations. This hybrid position requires attendance at the Manchester office two days a week and is a temporary contract lasting over six months. The candidate will be responsible for enhancing developer experience through automation, integration, and troubleshooting within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain tools and processes that simplify and accelerate the development life cycle, from code creation to deployment.
  • Create and maintain developer tools and SDKs that enhance productivity.
  • Apply UX principles to improve developer experience.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve developer efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain feedback loops with developers to improve tools and APIs.
  • Integrate various tools and services to build seamless development pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
  • Share insights as a subject matter expert in Developer Experience technologies.
  • Participate actively in platform development team meetings.
  • Monitor and resolve Developer Experience issues from Jira Service.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in modern Front End frameworks and libraries such as React, with a focus on Node.js and Typescript.
  • Strong experience in Back End development using Node.js, Python, or Java.
  • Working knowledge of automated end-to-end browser-based automation suites (Cypress/Puppeteer/Playwright).
  • Expertise in CI/CD tools and practices, including GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
  • Expertise in Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native development practices.
  • Experience in a DevSecOps culture, including monitoring and observability tools.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform) and scripting languages (Bash/Python).
  • Experience with API Gateways (Apigee) and understanding of RESTful and GraphQL principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of security protocols and standards including OAuth and Zero Trust.
  • Experience with SQL (Cloud SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes.
