Summary: The Senior Security Architect role involves engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing teams to develop innovative security architecture solutions. The position requires leading the technical design of systems while balancing security requirements and making informed design decisions. The role is based in Newcastle with some flexibility for other northern hubs and requires SC security clearance. The contract is for 12 months and falls inside IR35 regulations.

  • Design and review secure system architectures using patterns and principles.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in designing and reviewing secure architectures.
  • Hands-on experience in application security, database security, and cloud security measures.
  • AWS cloud experience.
  • Experience with database applications such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with systems that encrypt data.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) qualification.
  • Ability to communicate security concepts clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to monitor and drive technical analysis and feedback loops.

Salary (Rate): £750/day

Job Title: Senior Security Architect

Contract: 12 months

Location: Newcastle Hub (40% on-site, increasing to 60% from September). Open to other northern hubs (Leeds, Manchester, Blackpool) with occasional travel to Newcastle.

Pay Rate: Up to £750/day (inside IR35)

Security Clearance: SC required

Contracting Authority: Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

Core Purpose - The Senior Security Architect will:

  • Engage with senior stakeholders across departments.

  • Research and apply innovative security architecture solutions.
  • Develop vision, principles, and strategy for security architecture.
  • Balance security requirements and make informed design decisions.
  • Lead technical design of systems and services.
  • Support quality assurance and act as an escalation point for junior architects.

Summary of the Role and key responsibilities:

  • work out subtle security needs

  • produce particular patterns and support quality assurance
  • be the point of escalation for architects in lower grade roles
  • lead the technical design of systems and services

Analyse technical solutions and identify areas for improvement. Reuse analysis across similar problem sets. Communicate security and risk implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Design and review secure system architectures using patterns and principles.

Technical Skills required:

Knowledge and Experience required:

  • e.g. Previous experience of working for a government dept.
  • We are seeking a highly experienced individual that has worked with complex large-scale micro-service infrastructure.
  • AWS cloud experience is essential
  • Working with db applications such as Mongo DB & PostgreSQL experience is essential
  • Working with systems that encrypt data is essential
