Summary: The Senior SDET role involves working with developers and product teams to create and maintain automated testing frameworks for APIs, services, and applications in an agile environment. The position requires SC clearance and focuses on ensuring quality throughout the delivery lifecycle, emphasizing Java coding standards and automation best practices. The role is based in London with remote working options available and is contracted for 7 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define acceptance criteria and test DOD for each story with the product team.
  • Collaborate with developers to design and review tests covering all product functionality at unit and component levels.
  • Perform exploratory testing across all levels and automate tests for all phases.
  • Ensure traceability, quality metrics, and reporting are maintained throughout delivery.
  • Raise the profile of quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, contributing to estimation, retrospectives, and planning.
  • Work in a test-first environment using TDD/BDD practices.
  • Provide assurance of user stories according to defined acceptance criteria.
  • Unit test frameworks and validate non-functional requirements.

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years as an SDET with hands-on Java coding experience (OOP, SOLID principles).
  • Unit testing with JUnit.
  • API testing using coded frameworks and Postman.
  • Experience with Git/GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Cucumber (TDD/BDD).
  • SQL / RDBMS knowledge.
  • Exposure to Gradle and Spring (nice to have).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, able to work autonomously in agile teams.
  • Contract testing, Pact framework, Wiremock (desirable).
  • Advanced DevOps knowledge.
  • Experience designing test strategy and leading projects.
  • Deep Agile development experience.
  • Exposure to Linux command line and scripting.

Our client is a leader in delivering cutting-edge technology solutions, supporting mission-critical projects for the Home Office. They are seeking a Senior SDET to join their agile tech team and contribute to building automation platforms and frameworks in high-trust environments. SC clearance is required (NPPV3 preferred).

Role Overview
