Summary: The Senior Safety Engineer at Dynisma will play a pivotal role in advancing high-performance motion simulation technology. This position requires extensive multidisciplinary engineering expertise, focusing on system integration and safety engineering principles. The engineer will ensure compliance with safety regulations while leading the design and development of complex systems. The role also involves collaboration with various engineering teams to champion best practices in design safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multidisciplinary system engineering activities spanning mechanical design, electrical engineering, controls, instrumentation, and software integration.
- Ensure safety and system integration are embedded throughout the design and development lifecycle.
- Take ownership of ensuring designs comply with the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) / UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations.
- Conduct and lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), design risk assessments, and hazard identification activities.
- Provide expert appraisal of engineering designs in relation to Annex I of the Machinery Directive and provide actionable feedback to design teams.
- Develop comprehensive and compliant user instructions and documentation in accordance with safety regulations.
- Compile and maintain complete Technical Files in line with Annex VII requirements.
- Liaise with Notified Bodies and lead Type Approval processes for machinery.
- Champion best practices in design safety and system validation across all engineering teams.
Key Skills:
- Minimum 2:1 honours degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline) from a leading university.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
- Significant experience in a senior engineering role, ideally in a high-performance or regulated engineering environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and integrate mechanical and electrical design with a strong understanding of control and software systems.
- In-depth knowledge of safety engineering and system-level design compliance with the Machinery Directive and UK Safety Regulations.
- Hands-on experience with Technical File creation and working with regulatory and certification bodies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and influence across disciplines.
