Summary: The Senior Rigid Pipelines Engineer role involves overseeing technical, supervisory, and project coordination tasks related to pipeline system design. The position requires collaboration with specialist engineers and contractors, conducting technical analyses, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role is hybrid, allowing for remote work up to 12 days a month, and is based in Basingstoke, UK. The contract is PAYE only for an initial duration of 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate teams of specialist engineers and/or third-party contractors to ensure quality, consistency, and timely execution of pipeline system design.
- Conduct technical analyses and calculations during Conceptual, FEED, or Detailed Design phases for both onshore and offshore pipeline systems.
- Provide technical supervision and support during offshore pipeline installations.
- Prepare Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation and evaluate technical bids.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, company and industry standards (ISO 13623, DNV-ST-F101, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, etc.).
- Provide input for cost and schedule estimates of pipeline systems.
- Coordinate and align with other disciplines (Process, Flow Assurance, Materials & Corrosion, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Construction, Installation, Commissioning, etc.).
- Review, comment, and approve pipeline and installation engineering documents.
- Prepare technical reports and participate in key project technical reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, audits, 3D model reviews, risk assessments).
- Develop detailed pipeline system design calculations including: Wall thickness, buckling, and spanning, Stress analysis, On-bottom roughness, Global buckling and walking analyses, Tie-in and expansion loop design, Crossing and hot tapping design, Trenchless design (HDD, microtunneling, etc.), Layability analysis, Route selection and trenching/backfilling design, Development of MTOs (Material Take-Offs) and BoQs (Bill of Quantities).
- Prepare geophysical/geotechnical survey scopes and specifications.
- Monitor and control design progress and scheduling.
- Prepare IMR (Inspection, Maintenance & Repair) plans and RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) strategies.
