Key Responsibilities:
- Secure successful financial delivery of projects by controlling costs and managing variations.
- Liaise with contracts, estimating, and pre-construction teams to understand project scope.
- Review project package allowances and collate subcontractor package awards.
- Engage subcontractors, handle negotiations, and prepare sub-contract documents.
- Review contracts and ensure terms and conditions are acceptable.
- Track and maintain monthly job performance reporting.
- Prepare monthly valuations and ensure timely payments as per contract conditions.
- Process monthly subcontractor payments.
- Attend monthly commercial meetings to update on contract negotiations and job performance.
- Assist in commercial activities and provide support to Project Managers.
- Attend sites as required across England, Wales, Scotland, or Ireland.
Key Skills:
- Third level qualification in Surveying or Cost Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar commercial role.
- Strong contractual knowledge of JCT and NEC Forms of Contract.
- High standard of organisational and time management skills.
- High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Packages.
- Current UK Driving License.

Role Overview
We are hiring for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to specialise within the Decarbonisation sector. On our Projects within the Decarbonisation Sector, we assume role of the Main Contractor, meaning we have control of all elements of the build; Civils, Construction, Building Fabric, Solar, M&E etc.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Be responsible for securing the successful financial delivery of projects by controlling costs, progressing monthly valuations, and managing variations and change orders.
- Liaising with contracts, estimating and pre-construction teams to obtain full understanding of each project scope.
- Review and set out project package allowances prior to handover for tendering of works by operations team.
- Review & collate subcontractor package awards.
- Engage Sub-contractors, handle negotiations, prepare sub-contract documents.
- Review and interrogate new and existing contracts, orders, and suppliers to ensure associated terms and conditions are relevant and acceptable.
- Track & maintain monthly job performance reporting and feedback the same to Lead QS.
- Prepare on-time monthly valuations following site measurements and work-in-progress reviews and follow up to make sure that payments are received on time as per the agreed contract conditions.
- Vette and process monthly subcontractor payments.
- Attend monthly commercial meetings to provide update on any ongoing contract specific negotiations and overall job performance.
- Assist in the commercial activities of the business and provide support/advice in this regard to the Projects Managers as required.
- Attend sites as required (England primarily, but may extend to Wales, Scotland or Ireland – dependant on workload and project awards).
Requirements
- Third level qualification in a Surveying or Cost Engineering discipline or can demonstrate an equivalent level of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Commercial role.
- Commercially astute and ambitious.
- Strong contractual knowledge of both JCT and NEC Forms of Contract.
- High standard of organisational and time management skills.
- High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Current UK Driving License.
