Summary: The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Contracts Manager role at Rullion involves overseeing commercial contracts and quantity surveying for new build substations, with a focus on risk management and financial oversight. The position requires regular travel throughout Scotland and its surrounding islands, with a hybrid working arrangement that includes both office and home working. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager & Commercial Project Manager in identifying, evaluating, and assessing risks & opportunities.
  • Administer subcontracts on a day-to-day basis and manage final account settlements.
  • Ensure timely submission of contractual notifications and manage payment applications.
  • Provide updates on the financial status of project subcontractors and key supplier accounts.
  • Attend project meetings with stakeholders and manage project change management and claims.
  • Collaborate with the project team and provide contractual advice for successful project execution.
  • Support procurement by advising on and drafting contractual terms for subcontract work packages.
  • Liaise with the legal team to review subcontract terms aligned with main customer contracts.
  • Identify and manage claims and compensation events, including preparing and defending submissions.
  • Establish causation for events impacting project scope or schedule and provide contractual support to project teams.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, joint venture partners, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and improve contract and claim management processes and strategies.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in Quantity Surveying / Contract Management and commercial project management.
  • Familiarity with various Construction and Engineering Forms of Contract, especially NEC.
  • Experience with M&E and Civil construction.
  • Experience in negotiating subcontract terms and conditions.
  • Project budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (RICS / CICES) preferred.
  • Competence in claim management and understanding of contract law principles.
  • Strong negotiation and collaborative working skills.

Salary (Rate): 550
