Senior Quality Engineer

Senior Quality Engineer 6-month contract · Farnborough, Hampshire

A global aerospace manufacturer is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer for its Farnborough site on a 6-month contract.

The site designs and manufactures high-reliability aerospace products for commercial, defence and industrial applications, and works to AS/EN 9100.

You will sit in a quality team of about 11 (senior engineers, quality engineers, inspectors and a compliance manager): a mix of experienced people and a younger, developing group.

The brief is day-to-day quality ownership, investigations that need to go further than a standard check, and being the credible quality voice with customers and across the site.

Responsibilities

• Own general quality checks, non-conformance control and the internal quality rhythm of the site.
• Lead 8D problem solving, from containment through root cause and corrective action.
• Drive MRB activity and make clear dispositions.
• Take over external customer calls, audits and site visits.
• Facilitate the weekly and monthly quality meetings.
• Influence operators, production and other departments, including stopping production when product or process integrity is at risk.
• Support a developing team, working alongside the existing seniors.

Requirements

• Senior quality engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing.
• Hands-on 8D and MRB ownership, including cases that went beyond containment.
• Customer audit, call and site-visit experience.
• Working knowledge of AS/EN 9100.
• The presence to stop the line, and clear communication for meetings and customers.
• Right to work in the UK and availability to be on site in Farnborough.
