Summary: The Senior Quality / Continuous Improvement Engineer will provide on-site support in aerospace or MRO manufacturing environments, focusing on corrective actions and process improvements. The role involves identifying and resolving nonconformance issues while implementing sustainable solutions across inspection and production processes. The engineer will work closely with production and inspection teams to enhance quality and operational efficiency. This position requires a strong background in quality management and continuous improvement methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and consolidate historical and active quality issues through review of NCRs, emails, photographs, work orders, supplier returns, purchase orders and related records.
- Create and maintain a structured Issue Catalogue capturing scope, impact, root cause status and corrective actions.
- Assess release and final inspection processes to evaluate effectiveness, identify gaps, and define improvements to ensure detection of known nonconformances.
- Facilitate Root Cause and RCCA activities with quality, inspection and production teams.
- Define, implement and track containment, corrective and preventative actions, verifying effectiveness.
- Review production processes to identify systemic weaknesses, human factor contributors and control gaps.
- Work directly with production and inspection teams to implement process improvements and stabilisation actions.
- Identify and implement "quick wins" to reduce immediate quality risk, including minor adjustments to inspection methods, tooling, work instructions or operator guidance.
- Develop a consolidated Corrective Action Plan, prioritising actions based on risk, operational impact and resources.
- Track corrective action progress and support transition to ongoing monitoring and sustainment.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an aerospace or MRO manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in corrective action management and Root Cause / RCCA methodologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of AS9100, production processes, inspection activities and process control.
- Experience analysing NCR data, internal quality escapes and supplier returns.
- Background in working cross-functionally with quality, inspection and production teams.
- Ability to work independently on-site and engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong investigative, analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
- Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
