Key Responsibilities:

Key Skills:

Venesky Brown is looking for Supply Chain Quality Auditors to join the Supplier Quality Department of Sizewell C, Suffolk. This is a long term contract role based in Ipswich which will also require significant travel to other locations in the UK and internationally. Please see further details below.
Job Purpose / Overview: The position is within the Supplier Quality Department which is responsible for Oversight of quality delivery within the supply chain, development of quality initiatives, interfacing with external quality bodies who manage Nuclear quality and managing CFSI mitigation activities and includes ownership of Supply Chain Quality Audits. The Supplier Quality Department is part of the Quality Delivery Organisation, which develops and maintains policies, strategies, standards, procedures and best practice in Quality as well as providing first and second level oversight of SZC’s activities and ensures their effectiveness. The delivery of SZC Project is split across six programmes of work to which the Quality Department provides quality related services. Quality Delivery Managers in each programme specify their needs and monitor service performance.
The Supply Chain Auditor supports the Head of Supplier Quality in understanding the audit needs of Programmes, risk areas and issues which will be collated into the annual Supply Chain Audit Schedule. The Supply Chain Auditor has responsibility to complete audits of the SZC Project Supply Chain at locations throughout the world and on SZC Site. The post holder is to interface with other functions and review data/information to:
- Plan the audit
- Execute the audit
- Report on the audit
- Communicate audit information, findings and actions
- Manage audit findings raised and from these, analyse results for input into, future audit plans, supplier development activities and management reports.
Using established audit processes and tools, the Supply Chain Auditor will deliver against the annual Supply Chain Audit Schedule. The Supply Chain Auditor, by delivery of audit activities within the Supply Chain, provides confidence that SZC’s Contract requirements are understood and suitable arrangements are deployed. The base location for the role will be Orwell Logistics Park (Ipswich) and requires significant UK and international travel to manufacturing facilities as well as visits to the SZC Site (Suffolk) to complete duties.
The work of the Schedule team is to:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Schedule Management function including Policy, Strategy, plan and processes
- Develop, manage, and maintain the Integrated Work Schedule for the delivery of the Sizewell C Project
- Ensure adherence to the project’s scheduling standards
- Track delivery performance and identify areas of concern to the Delivery Teams
- Support the Delivery Teams to produce monthly reports by providing intelligent information and analysis
- Analyse, review and integrate Supply Chain schedules
Principal Accountabilities:
General
- Support the development of quality (QA/QC) arrangements for deployment across the SZC organisation.
- Implement key quality arrangements related to the following topics:
- Manage Quality Execution
- Support Technical Assessment of Suppliers
- Conduct Supplier Audit
- Undertake actions to resolve issues relating to the implementation of quality and to bring about improvements and support others in these actions.
- The post holder has no direct line management responsibilities
Primary accountability
- Support the development of a risk-based Supply Chain Audit programme which provides assurance that the Supply Chain are operating in conformance to requirements (ISO 9001 and SZC Project) and are effective in terms of delivering intended results
- Liaise with the Supply Chain Assurance, Supply Chain Inspection, Environmental and Health and Safety functions to capture their inputs into audit planning and outcomes
- Defining the scope, criteria and objectives for each Supply Chain audit, in collaboration with the Programme Quality Management Leads and ensuring the requirements are understood
- Complete unplanned audits due to urgent operational needs identified through risk reviews
- Ensure that audits are planned effectively with effective engagement of stakeholders and auditees
- Identify and correctly categorise findings – i.e. Non-Conformances, Observations, Opportunities for Improvement and Good Practice.
- Ensure that audit reports are produced accurately, internally reviewed and published within agreed timescales
- Monitoring Non-Conformances within the reporting tool to ensure they are closed in a timely manner, and corrective actions have been completed, and are implemented effectively
- Input into the development of the monthly dashboard report which indicates the health of the Supply Chain Audit Programme
- Undertaking appropriate monitoring measurement and analysis of audit results to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Providing audit performance data input to the annual SZC Project Management Review process when requested
- Liaise with the other auditors when required to ensure audit data is available for review by Certification Body Assessor
Secondary accountability
- Checking the Works are conducted in accordance with the contract and notify of non-conformances.
- Proactively communicating with other teams, maintaining good communication links and ensuring issues are reported in a timely manner.
- Identifying potential Quality issues before they arrive to enable mitigating actions.
- Supporting team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards.
- Following up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issuing communications, calling meetings)
- Use the learning portal to communicate quality learning to the wider teams.
- Ensuring tasks are developed to quality in accordance with the company’s requirement for health, safety and environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
Essential:
- HNC/HND qualification or Degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent.
- Broad experience of implementing a variety of quality related solutions
- Successfully completed an IRCA accredited Lead Audit Course for ISO 9001:2015/ISO 19443:2018, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
- Experience in the application of ISO9001, ISO1400, ISO 45001 and/or ISO 19443 standard in a multi-disciplinary project environment
- Proven leadership experience working in a quality assurance/control environment within the nuclear industry or other relevant safety critical industry.
- Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.
Desirable:
- Hold a professional accreditation (IRCA) Lead auditor in one of the following standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 19443
- Corporate Member or working towards membership of the Chartered Quality Institute & Chartered Quality Professional
- Commercial exposure, especially supplier management
- Previous experience of working in a regulated environment (e.g. nuclear)
- Experience of working with integrated management systems
- Experience of working within an independent oversight or audit capacity
- Knowledge & understanding of nuclear site license conditions.
- Experience of interacting with regulators e.g. the ONR.
- Knowledge of Improvement Methodologies, Tools & Techniques e.g. Lean 6 Sigma
- Knowledge of the nuclear sector, ideally new build.
- Ability to speak French is advantageous.

Following the recent Final Investment Decision, construction is now fully greenlit, marking a major milestone in delivering the country’s long-term energy security and net-zero goals. As the biggest investment in clean, homegrown energy in decades, Sizewell C will supply low-carbon electricity to around 6 million homes for at least 60 years. SZC will design, construct, commission, operate and decommission two UK EPR reactors on the SZC Site, located at Sizewell, on the east coast of the County of Suffolk.
