Summary: The Senior Python Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in a new department focused on data management for the Front Office within an asset management firm in London. This position requires advanced skills in Python and Java, along with experience in various data tools and architecture. The role involves working with a team responsible for pricing data and may lead to a deputy position for the team manager. The working environment is flexible with a hybrid setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and architecture efforts for data solutions in a Front Office environment.
- Collaborate with a team of 5 to manage and optimize pricing data sourced from various vendors and internal departments.
- Utilize Python, Java, and AWS tools to develop and maintain data solutions.
- Contribute to the migration from a data lake to a data mesh architecture.
- Support the team manager and potentially act as deputy.
Key Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Python and Java.
- Experience with data tools such as Iceberg, Dremio, DBT, Arrow, Spark, Snowflake, Glue, Athena, and Airflow.
- Strong design and architecture capabilities.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Experience in finance, particularly in trading or asset management, is desirable.
