Summary: The role of Senior Project Manager (Rail Infrastructure) involves overseeing the full project lifecycle for civils and construction projects within the rail sector. This senior leadership position requires ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while managing budgets, change control, and client relationships. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the safe, compliant and profitable delivery of multi-disciplinary civils and rail construction projects from initiation to handback.
- Oversee the construction contract (NEC3).
- Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, UK health & safety legislation and company procedures.
- Manage project budgets, cost control, forecasting, change management and final accounts to protect margin.
- Provide visible safety leadership and drive a zero-harm culture across project teams and supply chain partners.
- Lead, develop and performance-manage multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Act as primary point of contact for clients, principal contractors and key stakeholders.
- Oversee design coordination, technical assurance, quality control and handback documentation.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier performance across safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives.
Key Skills:
- Degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline (or extensive equivalent experience).
- Significant experience managing multi-disciplinary civils and construction works, ideally within rail infrastructure or comparable safety-critical environments.
- Recognised project management qualification desirable (e.g. APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or similar).
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Strong understanding of contracts (e.g. NEC or similar), cost control, change management and forecasting.

Construction Project Manager - Immediate Start
A brand new opportunity for a Construction Project Manager (Civils) to join a tier 2 contractor in Birmingham who specialise in rail infrastructure projects. This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing the full project lifecycle - from initiation and planning through to handback and close-out - ensuring delivery aligns with CDM Regulations, health & safety legislation, programme targets and commercial objectives. You will provide visible safety leadership, own programme performance, manage budgets and change control, and build strong relationships with clients, regulators and supply chain partners. Both temporary or permanent candidates can be considered for this role.
Roles & Responsibilities
