Summary: This role is for a Senior Project Manager to lead a significant consolidation project at a nationally important collections facility in Wiltshire. The position involves overseeing project delivery, managing a team of Project Managers, and ensuring effective collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, particularly within the heritage or museum sector, and possess excellent stakeholder management skills. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with a focus on delivering key workstreams on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Project team to deliver key workstreams to time and budget
- Line manage and support Project Managers
- Monitor programme-wide impacts, risks, dependencies, and reporting
- Ensure consistency and quality in planning, processes, and budget control
- Collaborate across departments to implement national collections management priorities
- Promote inclusive, safe, and effective ways of working across the site
Key Skills:
- A strong track record in Project Management, delivering collections-based projects
- Heritage / Museums experience is preferable
- Proven leadership and people management experience
- Expertise in museum collections care and documentation is preferred
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience using project and risk management tools and databases
- Financial management capabilities, including budgeting and procurement
- Ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities
- A values-driven, inclusive approach to project delivery

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Collections Services Project Manager to lead a major programme of work at a nationally significant collections facility in Wiltshire. It is advisable that you have your own transport for this role.
About the Role
This role leads the final stages of a Consolidation Project focused on rehousing large and complex objects, improving hazard management, and enhancing collections documentation. The Centre is home to over 400,000 objects and 1.5 million library and archive items, and you’ll oversee a team of Project Managers and coordinate with departments across the wider organisation. You will manage project delivery, drive planning and reporting processes, allocate resources, and provide leadership across workstreams. The role requires excellent stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
