Description
AgileSource are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and delivery of digital products within a Government Digital Service (GDS) environment. This role is ideal for a product leader with extensive experience across UK Central Government, Public Sector, or wider DDaT environments who can drive user-centred digital transformation initiatives from discovery through to live service.
Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for defining product vision, prioritising delivery against user and business needs, and ensuring products align with GDS standards, service assessments, and government digital strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the product lifecycle from discovery through alpha, beta, and live phases.
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Prioritise product backlogs based on user needs, business objectives, and value delivery.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams comprising Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, User Researchers, Architects, and Software Engineers.
- Ensure products meet GDS Service Standards and successfully progress through GDS Service Assessments.
- Work closely with stakeholders across government departments to align priorities and manage competing demands.
- Use user research, analytics, and stakeholder feedback to inform product decisions.
- Define and monitor product KPIs, outcomes, and success measures.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and product governance activities.
- Champion Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement across teams.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience as a Product Manager, Senior Product Manager, or Lead Product Manager.
- Extensive experience delivering digital products within the UK Public Sector, Central Government, NHS, Local Government, or wider government organisations.
- Strong understanding of GDS principles, service standards, and assessment processes.
- Experience working within Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) functions.
- Demonstrable experience managing products throughout the full delivery lifecycle.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior government stakeholders.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design and evidence-based decision-making.
