Detailed Description From Employer:

Senior Product Designer — Maternity Cover

About Thriva

At Thriva, we’re on a mission to close the gap between lifespan and healthspan. While people are living longer, they’re also spending more years in poor health. We help people live better now, and for longer—with proactive, at-home blood testing, connected wearables, doctor-reviewed results, and personalised actions backed by evidence. We’re in an exciting phase of product evolution. Our app supports hundreds of thousands of people with rich health data, clinical insight, and personalised guidance—and we’re actively expanding into wearable integration, AI-powered coaching, and data-driven health insights.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, keeping our product design momentum strong through this critical period.

The Role

We’re building a first-of-its-kind proactive health app, with deep clinical underpinnings and a seamless user experience across digital product, physical testing, wearable integration, and doctor-meets-algorithm insights and next steps. As Senior Product Designer, you’ll step into an established and impactful design role within a small, focused product team—working closely with the Director of Product to continue delivering excellent user experiences across our B2C product. This is a maternity cover position with a planned overlap period at the start, so you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside the current designer to understand ongoing projects, strategic direction, and design decisions in depth. The goal is a seamless transition that keeps our product design moving forwards with confidence. This is a role for someone excited by complexity, motivated by meaningful impact, and eager to work cross-functionally with clinicians, engineers, growth marketers, and content experts. It’s a high-impact position where you’ll help shape the experience for hundreds of thousands of users. We are a purposefully lean team—our CTO Founder writes code and our Product Director runs user interviews—so we’re looking for someone comfortable straddling the strategic and the hands-on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design thoughtful, intuitive user experiences that span physical testing and digital platforms
  • Bring design thinking and innovation methodologies to the cross-functional team
  • Run user research and testing sessions and immerse yourself in product usage data to inform design decisions

  • Translate complex clinical concepts, health data, and algorithmic outputs into clear, usable designs
  • Work with engineers, data analysts, and product experts to define flows, prototypes, and features
  • Run discovery projects and contribute to product thinking—helping us identify and validate the highest-value opportunities that meet user need
  • Use Figma daily to iterate on flows, refine UI, and prototype ideas
  • Collaborate across the business—working closely with clinical, growth, and marketing teams
  • Balance short-term iteration and experimentation with long-term coherence in how our product feels and functions
  • Support continuity of ongoing design projects during the handover period, picking up established workstreams including our core app journey work including goalsetting, data-driven insights and health dashboards
