Summary: The role of Senior Product Designer (Design System) involves collaborating with a Native design system team at a challenger bank to establish a framework and principles for a consistent customer experience. The consultant will leverage their expertise in Native Design Systems to guide teams through the migration from React Native to Native apps, ensuring effective governance and collaboration. The position requires a deep understanding of both design and engineering languages to facilitate communication and implementation of design principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a framework and principles for the design system to enhance collaboration and reduce duplication.
- Capture migration-led decisions to inform long-term governance.
- Assess the current state of the design system and create a future state framework.
- Guide teams in adopting established ways of working for new features or services.
- Engage in discussions with the Head of Design and Head of Product to align on design approaches.

Outside of IR35 * - Design System Consultant - 3mth contract My client, a challenger bank have a Native design system team of designers and engineers, but they are seeking a contractor to help them create a framework and principles that all engaged parties can work towards, reducing duplication and creating pace and overall a more consistent customer experience. Ensure migration-led decisions are clearly captured so they can inform longer-term governance Recently, they have migrated from React Native to Native apps, including a new Native DS. To help create some foundations and a framework, my client is looking for a super-experienced DS specialist to come in, establish the current state, and have the experience to create a future state as a way of working, creating principles that both teams follow. Embarking on a new feature or service, the teams can refer to the approach due to said principles, so the designers and Engineering are confident to go from 0-1 - established ways of working. Experience required: Super experienced with Native Design Systems, someone with gravitas can speak design language and engineering language. This could also be someone from an engineering side who gets the design. Interview process – 2 stages - (1 might suffice) Head of Design & Head of Product – will chat with candidates, understand how they have worked on Native DS before, and discuss approach.
