Summary: The Senior Process Engineer role involves supporting the development and delivery of complex capital projects in the water sector, specifically focusing on clean water projects. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and mentoring responsibilities, aimed at ensuring quality and innovation throughout the project lifecycle. The role is UK-based with flexible working options and is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and reviewing process design calculations and contractor submissions
- Preparing detailed scope documents, CDM files, and technical job packs
- Evaluating process options using Whole Life and TOTEX costing principles
- Providing technical assurance and quality control across multiple project stages
- Offering process commissioning support and engaging with internal/external stakeholders
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting Chartership development
- Driving continuous optimisation and identifying innovative solutions
Key Skills:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or similar technical discipline
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
- At least 5 years' experience working with clean water treatment processes in design, operations, or regulatory settings
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and solid engineering judgement
- Proficiency with relevant standards, CDM 2015, NEC contracts, and industry-specific regulations
- Experience producing high-quality design documentation under tight timelines
- Confident communication skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Budgeting and cost control experience is highly desirable
