Summary: The Senior Process Engineer will lead process engineering efforts to ensure the safe and efficient operation of an LNG plant. This role encompasses troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and supporting improvement projects while adhering to safety and compliance standards. The engineer will also mentor junior staff and collaborate with various teams to enhance operational effectiveness. The position is based in Darwin, Australia, for a contract duration of 12 months starting in January 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical support for LNG plant operations, including troubleshooting and optimization.
- Review and endorse process design changes, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
- Develop and maintain process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, operating philosophies).
- Ensure all activities comply with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety reviews (HAZOP, LOPA).
- Support process safety initiatives and maintain integrity of safety-critical systems.
- Identify and implement opportunities for energy efficiency and production improvement.
- Analyze plant data to recommend operational adjustments for optimal performance.
- Provide process engineering input to plant modifications and capital projects.
- Ensure changes follow controlled management of change (MoC) procedures.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and other engineering disciplines.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in process engineering within LNG or hydrocarbon processing facilities.
- Strong understanding of LNG processes, cryogenic systems, and gas treatment.
- Familiarity with Australian regulatory requirements and international standards.
- Experience in process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS) and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and manage priorities effectively.
