Senior Portfolio Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of integrated organisational plans aligned to corporate objectives.
  • Ensure plans include key milestones, dependencies, risks, assumptions and success measures.
  • Coordinate planning activities across multiple business functions.
  • Assess organisational capacity, competing priorities and delivery impacts to support decision-making.
  • Maintain oversight of portfolio commitments and delivery progress.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain organisational performance frameworks.
  • Design meaningful performance measures and KPIs.
  • Produce high-quality reporting and management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Deliver forecasting, analysis and insights to support evidence-based decision making.
  • Drive automation of portfolio reporting and management information.

Governance, Risk & Assurance

  • Establish planning, resource management and reporting standards across the organisation.
  • Monitor and manage risks, issues and dependencies across the delivery portfolio.
  • Support governance forums with timely and accurate reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with programme, finance and operational teams to strengthen assurance arrangements.

Resource Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead workforce and resource planning activities.
  • Develop forecasting and capacity management approaches.
  • Identify future resource requirements and constraints.
  • Embed best practice planning and performance management processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across planning, reporting and governance functions.

About You: We're keen to speak to candidates who have experience in:

  • Establishing or transforming PMO, resource management or portfolio planning functions.
  • Capacity planning, forecasting and demand management in complex organisations.
  • Designing and implementing dependency management frameworks.
  • Producing executive-level portfolio reporting and management information.
  • Leading organisational change, operating model or business improvement initiatives.
  • Working directly with senior leaders to improve governance and organisational delivery performance.

Technical Experience: Essential experience includes:

  • Portfolio planning and resource management.
  • Capacity planning and forecasting methodologies.
  • Dependency management across multiple programmes and projects.
  • Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Microsoft Planner.
  • Power BI.
  • Automated reporting and dashboard creation.
  • Governance, assurance and risk management frameworks.
