Senior PLC Programmer

A global leader in manufacturing is seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to lead a series of control system enhancement projects across international sites. This is a 6-month contract offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to make a direct impact on automation and control standards across a growing global network.

As the PLC Programmer you will:

• Lead the development, modification, and enhancement of PLC-based control systems across multiple international manufacturing sites
• Design and implement PLC code using Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure effective integration of control systems with mechanical and electrical systems
• Support on-site commissioning (where required) and provide remote technical support to local engineering teams
• Document all changes and updates in line with internal standards and industry best practice
• Identify opportunities for system improvements and advise on control strategy optimisation

To be considered for the PLC Programmer role you will need:

• Proven experience as a PLC Programmer within a manufacturing or industrial automation environment
• Strong hands-on expertise with Siemens (TIA Portal / S7) and Allen Bradley (RSLogix / Studio 5000) platforms
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of project delivery
• Experience working on control system upgrades, migrations, or enhancements
• Previous exposure to rail sector manufacturing is desirable but not essential
• Willingness to collaborate with international teams; occasional travel may be required

Contract Details:

• Duration: 6 months (potential for extension)
• Rate: £40–£50 per hour (Outside IR35)
• Hours: Full-time
• Location: Worksop with some flexibility to work remotely and 10-15% travel required to other global sites
