Senior Platform / Backend Engineer
Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Senior Platform / Backend Engineer to work for a key client based in Cambridge
**Please note this role falls inside IR35 and will be onsite 2 days a week in Cambridge**
Essential Skills
- TypeScript & common packages/frameworks (NestJS/Fastify etc.)
- Policy Engines (Cerbos, opa, cedar etc.)
- Authorisation Patterns (ABAC, RBAC etc.)
- Authentication Systems (oauth, OIDC, EntraID OBO, JWT/JWKS, Basic Auth etc.)
- Advanced Database Design (PostgreSQL, migrations, common packages & extensions)
- API Patterns & integrations (REST, GraphQL)
- Software Architecture Patterns (Modular Monolith etc.)
- Best Practices (OWASP, OOP, SOLID, DRY, DDD, contracts, integrations, security, backend workers etc.)
- Monitoring & Telemetry (OTEL, DynaTrace etc.)
- VCS & CICD (GitLab)
- Spec driven AI development (e.g. Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or Kiro – NOT vibe coding!)
- OpenAPI / Swagger spec
- GitLab
- Terraform / Ansible
- Spacelift
- Docker/Kubernetes/Helm
- CI/CD
