Summary: This role is for a Senior Planner with expertise in managing programs for major powerline projects in Northern Scotland. The position requires a strong background in planning and scheduling, along with effective collaboration with project teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing delivery, managing risks, and providing insights to project leadership. This is a 6-month inside IR35 opportunity requiring relocation to the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain fully resourced, logically linked programmes across all project stages.
  • Interact daily with the project team advising and driving program milestones.
  • Support the management and performance of contract programmes, ensuring alignment with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Identify project risks, analyse impacts, and implement mitigation measures with precision and confidence.
  • Provide regular planning updates, progress reports, KPIs, and strategic insights to project leadership.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams, and Clients to maintain alignment and drive outcomes.

Key Skills:

  • Preferably a qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
  • Proven experience in a planning role on major infrastructure/power lines/utilities or energy projects.
  • Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject, alongside Excel and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, earned value analysis, QSRA, and TRA methodologies.
  • An analytical mindset with a sharp eye for programme risk and opportunity.
  • Strong communication skills to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willing to base yourself in the north of Scotland for 6 months.

An inside IR35 opportunity exists for a competent Planner with recent experience creating and managing programs on projects that include utilities and in particular major powerlines. This 6 month opportunity is based in Northern Scotland and requires for you to be based there.

Your duties will include –

  • Planning & Scheduling – Develop and maintain fully resourced, logically linked programmes across all project stages.
  • Interact daily with the project team advising and driving program milestones
  • Delivery Oversight – Support the management and performance of contract programmes, ensuring alignment with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Critical Path & Change Management – Identify project risks, analyse impacts, and implement mitigation measures with precision and confidence.
  • Reporting & Insights – Provide regular planning updates, progress reports, KPIs, and strategic insights to project leadership.
  • Interface & Collaboration – Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams, and Clients to maintain alignment and drive outcomes.
