Summary: The Senior Planner is tasked with developing and managing integrated project schedules for large-scale power transmission projects, ensuring accurate planning and risk analysis for timely and cost-effective delivery. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders and the application of structured planning standards. The planner will also lead performance management and reporting efforts, utilizing digital tools for enhanced forecasting. Experience in high-voltage transmission and related infrastructure is essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed Level 3–5 schedules for transmission projects.
  • Build logic-linked, resource-loaded programmes using Primavera P6 or equivalent.
  • Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and outage plans.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory milestones and client requirements.
  • Apply structured planning standards and WBS development.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, FIDIC, or equivalent contract planning requirements.
  • Maintain baseline control and change management processes.
  • Support stage-gate reviews and assurance processes.
  • Lead monthly update cycles including progress validation and critical path analysis.
  • Identify schedule risks, float erosion, and constraint impacts.
  • Produce earned value metrics (SPI, CPI where applicable).
  • Provide early warning and mitigation recommendations.
  • Conduct schedule risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations).
  • Develop what-if scenarios and recovery programmes.
  • Analyse outage windows, access constraints, and seasonal impacts.
  • Support delay analysis and claims preparation where required.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and site management.
  • Present schedule performance at governance forums.
  • Interface with client planning teams and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Support supply chain schedule integration.
  • Produce dashboard reports and executive summaries.

  • Maintain schedule data integrity across portfolio systems.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in high-voltage transmission (132kV–400kV+).
  • Knowledge of overhead line construction and refurbishment.
  • Experience with substation build and extension works (AIS / GIS).
  • Familiarity with underground cable installation.
  • Understanding of grid connection projects and national grid/utility framework environments.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in producing reports and dashboard analytics.
